Speed networking is a highlight of Freeman Days in New York, an annual event sponsored by TABA

On May 16, the Freeman School awarded diplomas to more than 700 talented young students, the latest graduating class to join the ranks of our prestigious, fast-growing alumni. As president of the Tulane Association of Business Alumni (TABA), I thought this would be an appropriate time to discuss TABA’s latest initiatives to add value to your degree and strengthen your association with the school and fellow alumni. As always, your support is crucial to helping us achieve our goal of providing career and networking opportunities for students and alumni and making Freeman one of the most prestigious business schools in the country.

• TABA Dues: On July 1, TABA eliminated its dues structure in an effort to support Freeman’s fundraising efforts. All business school alumni are automatically members of TABA. Now, however, alumni who contribute $50 or more per fiscal year to the Freeman Annual Fund will be considered Supporting Alumni and will be eligible to receive extended benefits such as personal access to Freeman’s Career Management Center and discounted fees to premium online career services.

• Tulane Business Forum: All profits generated by the Tulane Business Forum are used to fund TABA initiatives such as sponsoring Freeman Days, supporting student organizations like the Tulane Entrepreneurs Association, and hosting social networking events like the annual Rock ’n’ Bowl orientation party. You can support these initiatives by sponsoring the Tulane Business Forum. Alumni who register or donate $100 or more will be recognized in the forum’s marketing materials. For more information on how to become a sponsor, visit www.TulaneBusinessForum.com.

• Freeman Days: TABA has long been a sponsor of Freeman Days, which give students the opportunity to meet and network with alumni and potential employers in several cities. This year TABA will underwrite the cost for two students to attend each Freeman Days event. In association with the Career Management Center, TABA will provide a travel stipend to one graduate student and one undergraduate student for Freeman Days in New York, Houston and Washington, D.C.

• Freeman 50: The Freeman 50 is a recently established group of full-time MBA graduates with the primary goal of supporting the school’s overall initiatives. Operating under the auspices of TABA, this group is focusing its initial efforts on improving placement, driving fundraising and increasing brand recognition among recruiters, alumni and prospective students. TABA hopes to expand this model to encompass alumni of all Freeman School programs.

• Tulane Business Plan Competition: TABA was a Gold Sponsor of the Tulane Business Plan Competition, an annual event organized by the Tulane Entrepreneurs Association. TABA is proud to support this outstanding event.

• Staying Connected: Do you receive the Freeman e-Newsletter? Are you a part of the
Freeman LinkedIn Group? If not, you’re missing out! Update your contact information at
http://freeman.tulane.edu/alumni/reconnect.php so we can keep you informed of the latest news, events and programs. In addition to helping us reduce the number of physical mailings we send out, this information will also be used for Freeman Connections, a searchable database of business alumni to be launched later this summer that will make it easier for you to stay in touch with
fellow alumni.

For more information about these initiatives as well as other programs that are in the works, please visit http://freeman.tulane.edu/alumni or contact me directly at jerlenaz@yahoo.com. I look forward to meeting you at Freeman Days or other upcoming Freeman events.
