When Stanley Motta (BBA ’67) was asked to deliver the charge to graduates at this year’s diploma ceremony, he realized he had a special insight into the role: Fortyfive years ago, as a Tulane senior, he himself had sat in McAlister Auditorium impatiently waiting for the speaker to finish his speech so he could receive his diploma.
More than 150 alums spanning 45 years of the Freeman School turned out on May 4 for Freeman’s second annual Graduate Alumni Reunion Party.
After graduating from Tulane and earning a law degree from Stetson University, Beth Houghton (N ’77, MBA ’78) worked on the staff of Arthur Andersen & Co. for seven years, rising through the ranks to become a tax manager in the firm’s Tampa, Fla., office, but she eventually realized something was missing.
Well, my Tulane family, as they say, “Time flies when you’re having fun!” I have truly enjoyed every moment of serving as president of TABA, and as my journey as president comes to an end, what better time to assess where TABA is as an organization and what lies for the future.
