DiversityMBA Honors Three with Leadership Award

Three Freeman School students were chosen as 2010 recipients of Diversity MBA Magazine’s Outstanding Graduate Student Leadership Award. The award recognizes minority and multicultural graduate students—including African Americans, Asians, Hispanics, foreign nationals and women—who have exhibited exemplary leadership in the community or their institutions.

Patricio Campuzano

Patricio Campuzano (MBA ’11), a native of Quito, Ecuador, is president of Net Impact at Tulane, which works to inspire, educate and equip individuals to use the power of business to create a more socially and environmentally sustainable world. In October, he was chosen as a recipient of the 2010 Net Impact Leadership Award, a national honor that recognizes individuals for contributions to the organization over the past year. Campuzano was also one of six Tulane students selected to be part of the Ashoka U team, whose mission is to create a vision and plan of action to improve teaching, research and engagement opportunities in social entrepreneurship.

Amina Harvey

Amina Harvey (MBA ’10), who graduated in May, founded the Retail and Luxury Goods Association at Tulane and served as president of the organization for two years. She was also a vice president of event management for the Tulane Entrepreneurs Association and vice president of administration for the National Black MBA Association. In August 2010, Harvey began work as an assistant marketing manager for L’Oreal USA and she has also been selected to participate in the company’s prestigious Management Development Program, a rotational program that includes assignments in field sales, category management, market research, finance and marketing services.

Jennifer Urrego

Jennifer Urrego (MBA ’11) founded the Tulane Sports Business Association to offer undergraduate and graduate students a forum to learn more about the diverse career paths in sports. Urrego was also selected to be a 2010 Education Pioneers Fellow because of her desire to use her business skills to impact education. As a fellow, she served as an intern with Citizens Schools, a national educational after-school program, where she developed a scalable recruitment model to help the organization source and attract high-quality part-time educators to meet its staffing needs.

Diversity MBA Magazine is an internationally distributed publication targeting women and multicultural professionals in corporate America and government as well as entrepreneurs and business students. The list of 2010 Outstanding Graduate Student Leadership Award winners appeared in the magazine’s fall 2010 issue.
