Cynthia Devers, associate professor of management, presented two papers at the 2010 Annual Meeting of the Academy of Management in Montreal. With co-authors G. McNamara, J. Haleblian and M. A. Yoder, she presented “What Were They Thinking? Post-acquisition Announcement Changes to CEOs’ Equity-based Holdings,” and with co-authors J. B. McGuire, R. M. Holmes, P. Bromiley and T. R. Holcomb, she presented “Prospect Theory in Strategy Research: Meeting the Challenges and Developing the Potential.” Devers also received 2010 Outstanding Reviewer awards for both Academy of Management Review and Academy of Management Journal at the meeting. In September 2010, she presented “On Being Bad: Why a Stigma Is Not the Same as a Bad Reputation” with co-author Y. Mishina at the Oxford University Centre for Corporate Reputation Symposium 2010 in Oxford, England. In addition, Devers was recently appointed as an associate editor for the Academy of Management Review, and she was recently elected to a three-year term as representative-at-large for the Corporate Strategy and Governance interest group of the Strategic Management Society. Finally, Devers contributed two articles to top-tier journals in 2009. With T. Dewett, Y. Mishina and C. A. Belsito, she contributed “A General Theory of Organizational Stigma” to Organization Science, 20: 154-171; and with J. Haleblian, M. A. Carpenter, G. McNamara and R. Davidson, she contributed “Taking Stock of What We Know about Mergers and Acquisitions: A Review and Research Agenda” to Journal of Management, 35: 469-502.
John Elstrott, clinical professor of entrepreneurship and executive director of the Levy-Rosenblum Institute for Entrepreneurship, delivered two recent presentations. On Jan. 18, Elstrott delivered the presentation “Purpose, Sustainability and Succession” to the Women’s Business Enterprise Council in New Orleans, and on Jan. 31 he delivered a presentation entitled “Conscious Capitalism and Social Entrepreneurship: The Continuing Evolution of Freedom” to a gathering of Los Angeles alumni at the Beverly Hills Montage Hotel.
Anjali Sheffrin, research professor at the Tulane Energy Institute, co-authored “Using Market Simulations for Economic Assessment of Transmission Upgrades: Application of the California ISO Approach,” a chapter of the book Restructured Electric Power Systems, published by Wiley-IEEE Press in July 2010. Sheffrin’s co-authors were Mohamed Labib Awad, Keith E. Casey, Anna S. Geevarghese, Jeffrey C. Miller, A. Farrokh Rahimi, Mingxia Zhang, Eric Toolson, Glenn Drayton, Benjamin F. Hobbs and Frank A. Wolak.

Benny Zachry, adjunct professor of accounting, contributed “The organizational Implications of Sarbanes-Oxley: Eight Years Later,” to New Accountant, Issue 739, Fall 2010, pp. 5, 32-34. He also presented the paper “Company Stock Valuation and Acquisition in a Family Business (Buying Out the Relatives): A Case Study,” co-authored with Jim Carter, at the 2010 Academy of Business Disciplines Conference, which took place in November in Fort Myers Beach, Fla.
